As you may have heard, the editorial board of the Annales has decided to change the publisher of the journal. Starting this January 2008, the journal is no longer in the hands of Elsevier, but it is distributed by the IMS (Institute of Mathematical Statistics), which also publishes Annals of Probability, Annals of Applied Probability, Annals of Statistics, as well as a number of other journals. We believe that this move corresponds to a strong demand of our community to control all aspects of the production of our journals and not to depend on commercial publishers. The move to IMS is accompanied by a price cut in annual subscription (the 2008 subscription for institutions is 325 US$ for ca. 1200 pages). Moreover, this move will give better rights for the authors, and better open access, with free electronic access after two years. We hope that you welcome this news. To help the Annales de l'Institut Henri Poincare to keep and even improve its status as a leading probability and statistics journal at the international level, please consider doing the following: 1) Make sure that libraries are aware of this move and that they do renew their subscribtion. As we rather expected, Elsevier does not seem to have explicitly informed libraries of the fact that they no longer publish our journal, and many librarians may be unaware of it. To avoid a damaging reduction of the number of subscriptions, it would therefore be extremely helpful if you could forward this information to your librarian, to colleagues of neighboring institutions and their librarians etc. This is crucial for us. Information for subscriptions can be found at http://www.imstat.org/publications/subscriptions.htm 2) If you are an IMS member you could consider subscribing yourself, at the low price of 40$ a year. 3) And of course, the best way to maintain the quality of our journal is to send us some of your strong papers! Having very good papers published is the best way to make sure that this move will turn out to be a success. With our very best wishes, The editorial board of the Annales de l'Institut Henri Poincare, Martin Barlow, Franck Barthe,Gerard Ben Arous, Jean Bertoin, Thierry Bodineau, Chris Burdzy, Sourav Chatterjee, Jean-Pierre Conze, Tadahisa Funaki, Alice Guionnet,Emmanuel Lesigne, Yves Le Jan, Michael Nussbaum, Edwin Perkins, Balint Toth, Aad van der Vaart, Cedric Villani, Wendelin Werner
