NEXT ISSUE
Our December issue features two unusually provocative articles.
Szekely and Rizzo begin with a surprising new measure of statistical
dependence, which is both elementary to compute and endowed with
useful data analysis properties. Several eminent discussants consider
its impressive set of advantages over Pearson's correlation. Then
Baggerly and Coombes dissect some influential methodology papers from
the medical literature, detailing an array of serious errors. Since
their paper appeared on our website, four ongoing medical trials at
major universities have been suspended. Both papers are available on
our "next issues" page: http://imstat.org/aoas/next_issue.html
