This year's MPC is orgainzed by Elton Hsu (Northwestern University) Tom Kurtz (University of Wisconsin, Madison) Greg Lawler (University of Chicago) MPC33 will feature the following speakers and events: Tutorial lectures on Mass Transportation and Probability on Thursday: Karl-Theodor Sturm (Bonn University, Germany) Alessio Figali (University of Texas, Austin) The Thursday lectures will be held in Lunt 105, home of the Mathematics Department. Research lectures on Friday and Saturday: Russell Lyons (Indiana University), two lectures Amarjit Budhiraja (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill) Eric Carlen (Rutgers University) Elena Kosygina (Baruch College, City University of New York) The Friday and Saturday lectures will be held in Swift Hall, Room 107, which is directly across the lawn from Lunt Hall (Mathematics Department). On Friday evening we will host a buffet banquet in honor of Professor Mark Pinsky on the occasion of his 70th Birthday and for his long-time contribution to this successful conference series. The cost is $25 per person in cash or check payable to Northwestern University at the conference. Please note that MPC33 will begin on Thursday afternoon with the tutorial program. On site registration will be deferred until Friday beginning at 2:30 pm. We expect to have NSF funds to offset the expenses of graduate students and younger investigators. According to NSF guidelines, the term "younger investigator" refers to individuals who received the PhD after June 30, 2004. If you plan to request financial assistance, you must register online before SEPTEMBER 15 in order to be eligible for full consideration. The necessary paperwork can be picked up at the conference and returned by U.S. mail to the Mathematics Department. Other things being equal, the funds will be distributed according to chronological priority.
